You deserve support that helps your child feel more grounded, understood, and emotionally held, without forcing conversations they don’t yet have words for.
It’s time to address their wellbeing with developmentally appropriate, creative and play-based care, so they can feel more secure and at ease in themselves and their world.

Art therapy might be a good fit for you if:
- Your child has big feelings that are hard to understand or support.
- Talking things through hasn’t helped, or your child shuts down, avoids, or struggles to put their experience into words.
- You’re noticing anxiety, emotional overwhelm, perfectionism, low self-esteem, withdrawal, rigidity, irritability, or frequent meltdowns.
- Changes, stress, or transitions (school, family changes, illness, loss) have been difficult for your child to adjust to.
- Your child complains of stomach aches or headaches that don’t seem to have a clear cause. Bedtime has become a struggle. Certain sounds, textures, or changes feel overwhelming.
Children often communicate what they’re feeling most naturally through art and play.
It can be hard to make sense of what they're going through or find support that truly meets your child’s developmental and emotional needs. You're already paying attention. That matters.

With the right support, children can move from
- Feeling overwhelmed by big emotions or confusing thoughts to having safe and creative ways to express what’s happening inside.
- Behaviours that resist talking or reasoning to art and play-based processes that support regulation and understanding.
- Feeling corrected or managed to being met with approaches that respect their autonomy, dignity, and agency.
That’s exactly where art therapy comes in: creative, process-oriented care that helps children regulate their emotions, build internal safety, and express themselves more freely, while encouraging curiosity, exploration, and self-discovery.
How it works
Getting started
We begin with a parent consultation to understand your child’s needs, history, and current circumstances, and to make sure this approach feels like a good fit. This is a space to ask questions and discuss what support might be most helpful, with the understanding that building trust and rapport with your child is the foundation of effective therapy.
Ongoing creative and play-informed sessions
Your child meets regularly in a warm, developmentally attuned space where art, play, and creative processes support emotional regulation, self-expression, and relational safety. Sessions are paced according to your child’s needs and capacity, without pressure to talk or perform.
Supporting growth over time
As therapy progresses, parent check-ins and psychoeducation are included as needed to support understanding, alignment, and continuity of care at home.

Hi, I’m Karen, a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and Professional Art Therapist specialising in art and creative play therapy for children and adolescents.
I work with kids and teens navigating emotional challenges, neurodivergence, trauma, and life transitions, supporting them in feeling more at ease, more resilient, and more confident in themselves.
Art-making isn’t just fun – it supports healthy cognitive, emotional, and social development. As an art therapist, I am deeply committed to working in ways that honours children’s developmental pace, nervous systems, and inner worlds.
My approach is child-led and grounded in the belief that when young clients are met with curiosity, respect, and care, they can safely connect with their strengths and sense of self while embracing their unique personalities and interests.
