Art psychotherapy works at the depth where real transformation becomes possible
Experience a therapeutic approach that goes beyond symptom management — working with painful patterns at their root so that change can unfold gradually from the inside out.
You might be here because
- You get easily overwhelmed by your emotions. Intense reactions feel automatic and out of your control.
- You’re highly anxious, and find it difficult to relax. You get trapped in cycles of rumination, overthinking, or analysis. Something about being in your body or feeling your feelings doesn’t feel safe.
- You have difficulty trusting yourself and making decisions. You’re uncomfortable with uncertainty and have a strong need for control.
- You experience periods of numbness, flatness, or disconnection, and may rely on distraction or avoidance as a way to cope.
- You’re self-critical, struggle with perfectionism, or have a persistent feeling of not being good enough.
- You’ve sacrificed your authenticity or lost touch with yourself after years of adapting to other people’s wants and needs.
What if it were possible to move from feeling overwhelmed or shut down to feeling more grounded and present?
From living in constant anxiety or exhaustion toward moments of calm and relief?
From understanding your patterns but still feeling stuck, to beginning to experience change you can actually feel?
This is where art psychotherapy offers support, by helping you listen to your nervous system, return to yourself, and cultivate change that feels lived and lasting.

Hi, I’m Karen, a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and Professional Art Therapist.
I work with women experiencing anxiety, depression, and chronic stress, as well as those navigating the impacts of complex trauma, neurodivergence, or narcissistic abuse. I know what it’s like to do everything “right,” gain insight, and still feel stuck or disconnected. Art therapy offers a different way of healing - one that facilitates change at a deeper, embodied level, especially when talking about your experiences alone hasn’t been enough.
I offer flexible session lengths in 60, 75, and 90 minute formats to suit your needs.
Longer sessions can be especially supportive for trauma work, and allow art-making to unfold naturally and creative experience to feel spacious and satisfying.

Frequently asked questions
How does virtual art therapy work?
Virtual therapy sessions are held through Jane, a secure, encrypted video platform designed to meet Canadian privacy standards, including PIPEDA and PHIPA. All you need is a private space, a stable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone.
Do I need previous art experience?
No. Art therapy doesn’t require any prior experience or artistic skill—just curiosity and a willingness to explore.
Do I need to purchase expensive supplies?
No. For virtual sessions, I’ll provide a list of simple, affordable materials you may already have, can easily access, or make from scratch. Found, recycled, and natural materials are also welcomed and encouraged.
Where are your services currently available?
I currently provide individual art therapy and counselling sessions to clients residing in the following provinces: Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Newfoundland and Labrador.
Can I use my insurance for virtual therapy?
I do not bill insurance directly. Clients are responsible for payment at the time of session. Receipts are provided for clients to submit to their extended health benefits plans, where applicable. Coverage and reimbursement depend on your individual plan.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule a session?
I ask for a minimum of 48 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule a session. Sessions cancelled or rescheduled within 48 hours, as well as missed appointments, are subject to a late cancellation/no-show fee equal to the full session rate.
Beginning therapy, even if it isn’t your first time, takes courage.
It can be challenging to open up to another person, look at all the different parts of yourself, or sit with emotions that don’t always feel good, but in that process lies real transformation. Whether you're seeking to process past experiences, navigate current challenges, or simply find your way back to creative play, I'm here to support you.
